Beside

I made Beside because I kept losing my place every time I looked away from the lens. iPhone Duo has the fix built in: a small screen on the back, right next to the good cameras.

Unfold the phone and turn it around. The rear cameras record you, the outer screen runs your script beside the lenses, and the big inner screen becomes the control room, split at the fold: the camera on one side, a live copy of the prompter, the time left and the speed on the other.

No Duo? On any other iPhone, and on a Duo folded shut, the script fills the screen with a FaceTime-style camera preview in a corner. Record with the front camera or flip to the rear.

Scripts are plain text with a little markup: sections, highlights, emphasis, real pauses and notes that stay off the prompter. Speed is in words per minute, voice follow moves the script as you speak, and every take keeps chapter timestamps you can paste into YouTube.

Apple Watch runs the take from across the room: play, pause, speed on the Digital Crown, sections and record. Free to start, and Pro is one payment, no subscription.
